BASQAL CULTURAL CENTER

A Creative Space Revitalizing Cultural Heritage and Community Life

Construction of the Cultural Center located in the Basqal settlement began in 1978, and the building was opened for public use in 1980. Since that time, the Cultural Center has played an important role in the cultural life of the local community, hosting various holiday celebrations, concert programs, and social and cultural events.

Since 2012, based on Decision No. 4 of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Basqal Cultural Center operated as a branch of the Ismayilli District Cultural Center. According to Decision No. 255 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated June 7, 2018, the building was transferred to the authority of the State Tourism Agency.

Within the framework of the new project, the Basqal Cultural Center is planned to be transformed into a modern creative and public activity space. The project aims to provide opportunities for children, adults, and all residents of the village to spend their leisure time productively while gaining new knowledge and skills.

The project includes the creation of an auditorium for performances and events, educational classrooms, as well as workshops and studio spaces for painting, wood carving, sculpture, ceramics, weaving, sewing, chess, and various educational courses.

The Basqal Cultural Center is intended to become one of the most attractive cultural hubs not only for local residents but also for visitors and tourists coming to Basqal — a place where culture, creativity, and social life come together.
